A Call For Help From Blackwell Baptist Church: Thanks for answering the Call!
Blackwell Baptist Church has been a faithful member of JBA of over 40 years. It has seen its numbers grow and decline for years. In fact, it almost died along with its pastor in a tragic accident on Hwy 21 in the summer of 2008 when it fell to just two faithful people to keep the doors open.
There were just five people when I first agreed to become their pastor over a year ago and now we are running about 11-15 on Sundays with the prospect of seven more to begin coming soon. We have baptized two so far this past year and several more to come this spring. We will hold our first wedding in June and we have an urgent need of developing a children’s program and a possible youth group. Needless to say we are overwhelmed by what God is doing at Blackwell Baptist Church.
We were overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from our sister churches. We had teams of men and women from Windsor Baptist, FBC DeSoto Baptist, and House Springs Baptist. These teams worked hard and completely gutted the upstairs, raised the roof, re-dry walled everything, rewired, added new lighting, and painted it. It looks great! THANK YOU so much. There was also tremendous financial support from ministry groups from Windosr Baptist and from individual church members from Faith Baptist in Festus. We even had an offer from a music group to do a benefit concert. We are still working on making that happen.
We still need help to finish the job.
Blackwell Baptist Building Needs
Second Floor
We could use some help buying the new furniture and toys for the children’s areas. We also want to put in new small appliances like a stove, refrigerator, microwave and sink. We need to buy carpet for this area.
Outside
We need to replace an existing storage shed with a larger stronger model.
Room Addition
We would like to build a room addition off the back and side of the church to use as a multi use space. Classroom and fellowship space. Costs estimates would be about $3,000 to $4,000 in materials.
